Every Movement Counts
Whatever your age, there's strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life. Studies have shown that people who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term chronic conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers. It is widely known that exercise benefits every part of the body, including the mind, however new studies have shown that going for a brisk walk for two-and-a-half hours a week could prevent an early death caused by lack of sleep. It is clear from this that giving your body enough sleep every night is imperative to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
This same study also revealed that those who have low levels of exercise and while also sleeping poorly were 57% more likely to die prematurely compared to those who exercise regularly and therefore sleep better as a result. On top of this the study also showed that participants had 67% higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease and a 45% greater chance of being diagnosed with cancer.
The benefits of regular exercise are endless and besides physical health improvements it has also been proven to help reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, reduce cognitive decline, improve memory while also assisting to boost brain health.
Recently the World Health Organisation released new guidelines on physical activity and sedentary behaviour. These guidelines emphasized that everyone, of all ages and abilities, can be physically active and that every type of movement counts. This is inline with Empeals mission and company goal as we strive to support those who want to improve their health no matter what stage of their health journey that they are on. We are committed to taking a holistic view of a person’s health through improving and managing stress, sleep levels, nutritional intake, and fitness.
